Year-End Accountant (Contract)

Location: UK (Hybrid/Remote options considered)
Contract: 3 months
Rate: £350 per day (inside IR35)

A large UK-based not-for-profit organisation is seeking an experienced Year-End Accountant to provide short-term support during a busy reporting period. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable resolving legacy issues, working at pace, and supporting audit delivery with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including investigating historic issues and ensuring balances are fully supported.

• Understand and execute the underlying processes behind reconciliations, not just review outputs.

• Prepare and upload audit samples and supporting documentation to an external audit portal.

• Perform income reconciliations for both year-end and ongoing operational activity, identifying and addressing process weaknesses.

• Post and review journals, ensuring accounting records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

• Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve queries efficiently and maintain clear documentation and audit trails.

About You

• Part or fully-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).

• Strong experience in year-end close, reconciliations, and journal processing.

• Able to work under pressure, managing high volumes of transactional and reconciliation work.

• Highly detail-oriented, practical, and comfortable "getting hands-on" in the numbers.

• Confident working independently with minimal supervision; strong Excel skills essential.

• Open Accounts experience is highly desirable.
