Financial Controller

Financial Controller, Media, €70-€80k, Amsterdam.

Altum Consulting are recruiting for a high calibre Financial Controller to join a fast-growing media organisation headquartered in the heart of Amsterdam. Operating within a dynamic, international and matrixed structure, they deliver innovative solutions to clients across multiple markets.

The Role

We are looking for a Qualified Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys combining strong technical accounting expertise with proactive business partnering.

This is a pivotal role within the finance function, responsible for driving financial insight, control, and efficiency across the Netherlands Group and Agency cost base. You will be the go-to expert for all matters relating to personnel costs, ensuring robust financial control while providing forward-looking analysis to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly close process for NL Group and Agency costs, partnering closely with Shared Services, Finance Hubs, and budget holders.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all cost entries, including accruals, reclassifications, and intra/intercompany postings.
• Maintain and manage detailed accrual schedules for all cost areas.
• Review cost balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Shared Service teams, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Support senior stakeholders with local country consolidation and agency performance reviews.
• Prepare high-quality audit files and schedules, responding to queries for both internal and statutory audits.
• Maintain audit-ready working files in compliance with company policies and internal controls.
• Act as a trusted finance partner to internal stakeholders, particularly around personnel costs.
• Deliver insightful analysis and recommendations to drive cost efficiency and financial performance.
• Provide variance analysis and forward-looking financial insight to support decision-making.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across processes, systems, and controls.

You'll be/have:

• Qualified Accountant (RA, ACCA, CPA, CA) with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
• Strong audit background, ideally within a Big 4 or reputable audit firm.
• Experience in a matrixed, international environment preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP and HFM desirable.
• Media industry experience advantageous but not essential.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
• Energised by working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Strong communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
