S/4 HANA Global ERP Implementation Programme
"Embarking on a large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementation was a challenging endeavour, especially given the need to integrate our newly acquired Oracle-run operations. We turned to Altum after a recommendation from another member of the SLT, and they surpassed our expectations. From understanding our unique needs to providing highly skilled professionals across various workstreams, Altum proved to be more than a recruitment agency – they were strategic partners in our transformation journey. Each candidate they provided was not only proficient in their technical area but also understood the big picture, which made a significant difference. Our S/4HANA implementation was a resounding success. We now have a unified, efficient, and transparent system across our entire enterprise, which has been a game-changer for our business operations. I cannot recommend Altum highly enough for any business looking to add excellent people into their transformation journey” – COO.
Background
Altum Consulting were recently engaged by well-established multinational manufacturing company with operations spanning over two decades. They had recently acquired a major competitor which was running on an Oracle system, distinctively different from their existing SAP framework. This meant they were dealing with two different systems, causing data fragmentation, operational inefficiencies, and a lack of holistic visibility across the entire enterprise.
Recognising the challenge, it was decided that an upgrade was necessary, and they chose to transition to SAP S/4HANA. This move was aimed at integrating the disparate systems of the two businesses and fostering better data management, streamlined business processes, and a unified view of the entire enterprise. The transformation was aimed to span across all workstreams, making it a substantial task that required a high level of expertise and precision.
The Solution
The Transformation practice at Altum proposed a comprehensive recruitment plan to support the implementation of the S/4 HANA ERP system. The chosen implementation partner brought a wealth of technical knowledge and a structured approach to the transformation, but there was a need for specific skillsets, industry experience, and cultural fit to supplement their work and ensure success.
Our deep understanding of ERP transformations and knowledge of the industry helped us determine the skill gaps and identify roles that needed to be filled. These roles ranged from project managers who could oversee the transition and liaise with the implementation partner to technical experts who could manage intricate parts of the S/4HANA implementation. We also recognised the need for functional consultants to help re-engineer business processes and change management specialists to smooth the transition for the workforce.
The Outcome
The successful implementation of the S/4 HANA ERP system has transformed the business’ operations. The recruitment process involved meticulous screening, assessments, and interviews to ensure that candidates not only possessed the required skills and expertise but also aligned with the businesses culture and values. This comprehensive approach ensured that the professionals we sourced could seamlessly integrate into the project team and work collaboratively with the implementation partner.
The consultants we provided offered unique perspectives and insights, worked closely with the implementation partner, and played instrumental roles in various stages of the transformation. This included planning and design, technical implementation, data migration, user training, and post-implementation support.
Our role in supplementing the staff worked hand in hand with the implementation partner's expertise, fostering a symbiotic relationship that was crucial to the seamless execution of the S/4HANA implementation. It demonstrated the immense value of a strategic recruitment partner in a transformation project of this scale.
